Course Overview

The National Certificate in Project Management is designed to equip learners with comprehensive project management skills applicable across various industries, including Information and Communication Technology, Human Resources, Advertising, Marketing, Construction, and more. This qualification aligns with international best practices and establishes a national standard for training fully qualified project managers in South Africa.

This course addresses the critical need for high-quality project management skills to enhance service delivery and economic growth in South Africa. It provides a competency framework tailored to South African contexts, enabling professionals to manage projects effectively in diverse social and economic sectors.

The qualification consists of Knowledge Modules, Practical Skill Modules, and Work Experience Modules.

Upon completion, learners will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in project scope management, including practices, techniques, and performance measures.
  • Competence in cost control processes, including variance and trend analysis, and earned value performance reporting.
  • Understanding of project quality assurance and control concepts, practices, and techniques.
  • Ability to evaluate cost management policies and procurement against governance criteria.
  • Knowledge of project close-out processes, including customer satisfaction verification, resource demobilization, contract closure audits, and handover procedures.
